28 June: pictures from Connecticut
| 1. | Sheena's rat terrier Elsie, the nicest and most obedient dog in the world. The rat terrier is a bit like the Jack Russell but with longer legs and an agreeable attitude (but not to rats). |
| 2. | The Meditation Rock. Where Sheena and Elsie like to walk |
| 3. | Sheena's massive mowing machine. A necessary gadget if you have a lot of grass to mow. |
| 4. | Mrs Duck's house. Sheena made a refuge for Mrs Duck in the middle of the pond and you can just see her if you look closely. She laid a clutch of eggs but a racoon got them |
| 5. | Sheena and her potatoes. She grows lots of veg in the garden but I don't think she grows bananas. |

17 May 2006. Pictures from last month in Hajjarah.
"The cloud in the Dark Towers picture broke when we were two hours walk from the village, and rained on us in raindrops two inches across and thundered. Foolish Englishwomen, we had no coats with us, no umbrellas."
Goeff and Alison's much-loved tortie died today, aged nearly 19, after a long illness, or anyway a long course of pills, bravely borne.

Here are a couple of pictures that Andrej took when he was visiting during the brief period when Daisy was at home taking a break from hospital procedures and a few that Richard took in the Bristol Children's Hospital being looked after by some very senior people.
Daisy is now at home permanently and making excellent progress.

We had a lovely house near Lyons Hall, which is between Leominster and Kington. Actually we booked three houses because we originally expected 22 people but we spent most of the time at the big house, called The Sherriffs. Unhappily Walter, Yvette and Mike couldn't come because Christiane took a turn for the worse and they went to Saint Pourçain. Christiane died on the following Tuesday.
I have merged the photos and pruned the list down to 58 images, which makes a more coherent story.
We had a fine if slightly raffish house in Felin Fach, just north of Brecon -- though Pat and Tony scarpered off at night to a B&B not far away, where they bred and won prizes for Texels. The owners, that is, not Pat and Tony. Mark brought the spud gun, a modified and turbo-charged version of the original and a sack of potatoes. Just as well it wasn't one of these.
